The prayer for peace whispers through the land
The cry of anguish thunders throughout the land
The doves of peace scurry to their holes
The hawks of war trumpet out the news
The common folk get caught in the open
It is they that fight
It is they that die
But never do they say a word
The silent folk must have a say
They must for once speak out
For if they carry the burden
Then it is up to them, what burden it is
Don’t pray for peace
And let war ravage the land
Make peace happen
Work for it
Too long has the silence been
Too long has chaos run rampant
Add up the whispers and the prayers for peace
Subtract the cries for war
And let the total be rung
Let’s see what the silent folk have to say
Will it be for war and death
Or for peace and life
The answer is for you to say
For you’re the one’s who fight and die
You’re, the one’s caught in the middle
Speak your mind
Carry the burden once
Be no longer silent
Say it loud for all to hear
Then back, what you say
Although this was written during the Viet Nam war, I believe that we are in a war again; that this war is for our souls and our country. It is time for us all to speak out, then back our our words with the VOTE. The time is now, don’t run and hide and hope someone else will take care of everything. It is now up to each and every citizen of this country to say what should happen in this country. Let your voice be heard loud and clear. Let American democracy actually stand for the rights of all citizens. It matters not whether they be white, black, brown, red, or even rainbow in color. It matters not that their beliefs in God vary or even if they have no belief at all. It matters not if they be Man or Woman, or even In-between. It matters not what party they belong or even if they are in a party. What matters is that we are all citizens of this country and have the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit to Happiness. So again I will say don’t give up the right of your voice – VOTE, IT MATTERS!!!!
